sky candles

i had lunch with my friends ken and gerald this afternoon, when ken mentioned
he'd love to revisit thailand in november for the yi peng festival. thais believe
releasing these lanterns up towards the sky is symbolic to having their wishes
sent to have answered and/or to having their problems and worries float away.

homeward bound

2.25.11 hong kong international airport, china
my airport gate was filled with american couples bringing home infants they
had just adopted from orphanages in china. yes, they were all on my flight.
and yes, it was noisy. ha! but, after hearing how grueling the adoption process
can be (some waiting for several years), i have a feeling that love really does
make the world go 'round.

birds of a feather

2.19.11 tagaytay, taal volcano, philippines
people flock to tagaytay for its churches, spiritual retreats, and healing
occurrences. oh yea, and for its scenic views and beautiful weather!
